Hi!
My name is Sarah. I grew up wishing every time Santa was coming to be given a dog 😎 I was so obsessed that from the age of 10 I daily started to read about dogs. About the breeds, about educating them, about the history, ...
Eventually when I was 13 years old, FINALLY there was a puppy dog for the family 😍 His name was Simba, an English Setter. I walked him twice a day in weekends and during school holidays. My mom walked him twice during school time. Since I read all these books, I gained the trust for educating Simba. I kept on taking my responsibility. Even when I was a student at University, I came home in the weekends and school holidays to walk Simba.
After Simba passed away, my parents bought another dog. A scottish deerhound named Molly. What a beautiful, royal, big dog she was! I trained her, went to dog school to let her get accustomed to other dogs. Which was important because being a huge puppy with puppy curiousness and energy, she did also have the strength of an adult dog. She turned out to be an awesome dog, friendly to all humans and animals.
During this time I started to take an intrest in Cesar Milan, the famous dog whisperer. I watched his shows of course, cause I thought his way of handeling dogs made a lot of sense. So I also bought his books. Which I would recommend highly to anyone 😉
From that moment on, I incorporated his vision. By the time I started living on my own, I figured I'dd like a challenge and I rehabilitated two rescue dogs. Two podenco's. Both were super scared. Scared of people (men even more then women) some other dogs, cows, horses, cars, the tiniest sound that was made, bicycles, doors, ... One of them was also aggressive when someone got near his food. And had issues with peeing in the house and being terrified when he had to stay home alone (with the other dog). So... I got my work cut out. During the first weeks every day was a constant training. After weeks there were some times where I, as well as the dogs, could relax. It was awesome to see them evolving !
When the fears, the aggression and the peeing in the house was over, they were adopted in a forever home 😊
After that I got two cats; Arie and Oskar. And actually they kind of act like dogs and are also trained well. They are used to being with dogs since I lived some time with my parents during renovations and also because I take them with me when I visit my parents, who now also have adopted two podenco's from Spain 😎 One is everybody's best friend. The other one is scared of everything that moves or makes sound. But he is being trained and whenever my parents don't know what to do, they ask for my advice. Which is a huge compliment 😊
Since I miss having a dog and working with dogs, I started to become a petsitter and dog walker. I am also available for training dogs or for helping with behavioral problems. Something I don't have official experience for, but unofficially I am asked advice and help lots of times by my parents, brothers, friends, friends of friends, but also by strangers who see me walking different dogs 😊
For walking I ask 15 euro per walk + the price of the gas for driving.
I prefer doing different walks, since dogs also need some variation to be properly challenged. But also I like the variation 😉 I walk for about maximum 10 kilometers. Depending on how much energy the dog has and what he needs. I often combine walks with a dog park so your dog can run, and play with other dogs (if considered possible by the owner).
When I am petsitting I ask 30 euro per day. This includes a big morning walk (maximum more or less 10 km ), a shorter evening walk of about 30 minutes, combined with one of the many dog parks close to my appartment, a comfortable stay in my appartment. Dogs can come on the couch if it's on the animal blanket. They can go on the terrace in the sun or shade. They have access to the whole appartment, besides the bedroom. (If for any reason your dog needs to sleep in the bedroom, besides the bed, then this is possible. Just not standard 😊).
I have a habit of taking the dog(s) everywhere I go. If possible of course.
Not included is food and treats.
And finally for training advice I ask 20 euro per hour.
If you have questions, don't hesitate to contact me 😉
Hope to see you soon!
